Remove Dark Circles and Acne with This House-Hold Product

It’s hard to imagine that there’s a certain product sitting in our kitchen cabinets that can not only remove dark circles, under eve bags and even acne but guess what? There is! Baking Soda has been hitting headlines recently, Darshika Patel has shown us that by simply mixing baking soda with water to form a paste, you can diminish and even eliminate dark circles.

Baking Soda for under Eyes

Patel smears the baking soda under her eyes using the back of a spoon, advising not to let it get too close or into your eyes –ouch. To make the paste, simply mix one tea spoon of baking soda with a few drops of water to get the right ‘pasty’ consistency as seen in the clip, and then smear away. Leave on for 5 minutes and then wash or wipe off. Patel repeats this once or twice a week. Any more and the baking soda could have the opposite effect and actually dry out the skin, and we definitely do not want that.

Baking Soda for Acne Treatment

Baking soda can be used to make extremely inexpensive treatments for acne believe it or not! The baking soda works by loosening tough skin around blackheads and reducing the inflammation around pimples. It can also slowly erase acne scars over time, as well as the brown pigmentation caused by acne. Alternating your baking soda treatment with vinegar soaks can speed up the process.

Splash your face with warm water and gently pat dry. Once dry, apply your baking soda mix (1 teaspoon of baking soda with a few drops of warm water) and apply to the face. Allow to sit for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Repeat once a week.

Warning

Different skin types will react differently to baking soda. For those with more sensitive skin, the treatment should be used no more than once a week. If the baking soda causes any form of skin irritation then listen to your skin and step away! Everyone’s skin is different and we must learn what works and what does not individually.

Tip

The best benefits from baking soda come when you take it from a fresh box. The stuff sitting on your shelf for months could have reacted with other chemicals in the air; this could be great for making a scrub but not for alkalizing your skin! Put it back in the cupboard….
