We all have one of those friends whose skin is just unbelievably flawless. But what exactly are these ladies doing that we aren’t? If you are after a beautiful complexion, there are endless things you can try. Some are simple, for instance drinking more water. Others involve vampire facials and smearing bird poop all over your face. No thank you.
There are however, some tried and scientifically tested skin care rules that can seriously slow skin aging and make your skin look flawless. It’s not just what you put on your skin, but also to do with your mood and what you put in your body. If you want to have your best skin possible, follow these 5 guidelines. We promise they are totally blood and bird-poop-free.
1.Be a Cleansing Queen
If you aren’t already thoroughly removing your make-up and cleansing properly before bed, then you are just setting yourself up for bad skin. When you cleanse your face at night you are also removing all of the dirt that has built up on your face throughout the day, from make-up to pollution. Pollution has been related to skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and even eczema. So bid those lazy girl excuses goodbye and get cleansing!
2. Pay Attention to Your Thin Skin
‘Where is my thin skin’ we hear you ask. Your thin skin is located around your eye area, the backs of your hands, and the neck and chest area (décolleté). These areas lack oil glands meaning, they dry out quicker, these areas are the first to show the signs of aging. For glowing skin from head to toe, make sure to treat these thin skin areas with the same TLC you treat your face with. Make sure to pay special attention to the area around your eyes – this is a particularly delicate area.
3. Wear SPF. Every Day. No Excuses.
We’ve said it again and again, and we will continue to say it. Wear SPF Sunscreen daily! Your SPF should be at least factor 30 and applies every morning. A recent Australian study (900 participants) found that those who used sunscreen religiously over a period of 4.5 years showed no signs of skin aging. None! So Facetite looking for the perfect anti-aging moisturizer and start looking for the perfect sunscreen. Prevention is key.
4. Increase your Skin’s Absorbency
What we mean by this, is just because you are slathering on a serum and moisturizer day and night, does not mean it is sinking deep into your skin. You want your skin to be able to absorb as much of those expensive products as possible. Otherwise that’s money wasted on products! To maximize your products absorbency, use an exfoliator a couple of times a week, or better yet a microdermabrasion device a few times a week. The Glo Me microdermabrasion device is perfect for the job and will help your serum and moisturizer to work harder.
5. You Are What Your Eat
Did you know, many doctors admit that they can assess a patient’s diet purely by taking a look at their skin? The healthier that you eat, the better your skin will look, it’s that simple! High glycemic foods; cakes, cookies, pastries – you know all those yummy foods, these are dangerous to a clear and wrinkle free complexion, so stay clear as much as you can. There are also foods that can benefit your skin. Tomatoes boost the skin’s ability to protect itself from the sun. Foods high in omega fatty acids (salmon, nuts) will help maintain a good skin barrier and antioxidant-rich foods like berries are just what the skin is craving for.
Keeping to these simple habits will not only make your skin look better, but it will also be healthier!
