Anti-Aging Tips and Tricks; as Easy as ABC

Week in and week out we endeavor to educate you and give you all you need to know about fighting wrinkles, dark spots, sagging skin, cellulite and all the other lovely signs that come with aging. We aren’t claiming to turn back the clock but we can certainly help ease the journey and help you to age gracefully, confidently and best of all, with a smile on your face.

Everything you need to know about anti-aging is summed up here in our very own anti-aging ABCs.

A

What helps to build and repair elastin and collagen that begins with A?

Vitamin A

More commonly known as the star ingredient in Retinol. When vitamin A is applied to the skin it has a double action effect. Not only does it help to reduce wrinkles whilst keeping the skin uniform in color, but it also protects the skin against harmful UV radiation. UV rays are one of the chief causes of aging skin, so not only does vitamin A repair the skin but it also shields it from future damage.
Try using a retinol product on your skin at night as well as eating the stuff. Vitamin A can be found in rich leafy greens, fruits and lean proteins.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants come in many delicious forms including green tea and even dark chocolate. The magical flavonoids found in green tea are powerful antioxidants that research has found to help protect the skin from inflammation (a cause of aging cells) and cancer.

B

Though Botox might be the first thing to pop to mind, at stop2pose we believe in non-invasive treatments and do not agree with inserting a poisonous substance into the body in the name of beauty especially when not all of the side effects of botox have been studied long enough to truly know the long term effects. And so, this leads us to a more natural anti-ager….

Beauty Sleep

Do not underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep!
When we don’t get enough sleep not only does the world seem against us but biologically the body releases more cortisol, a collagen damaging stress hormone with no mercy that also limits the amount of HGH (human growth hormone) that the body produces. HGH is what repairs and restores our beautiful skin cells at night, the more the merrier. So make sure you are getting your beauty sleep – at least 7-8 hours a night that is.

C

Ceramides

Although you may not have heard of them, ceramides are a major part of the skins structure. You can think of them as the glue that holds the skin cells together. Those with dry and sensitive skin usually lack this crucial ingredient in their skin leaving it vulnerable to the outside world and unable to hold moisture. As we age the skin also becomes more dry, topical ceramide products can help to achieve a dewier more hydrated and youthful complexion.

Collagen

Collagen is without a doubt the main component of protein tissue in the body and without it, we quite simply be a pile of muscle and bones with no structure to hold us together. When it comes to skin collagen is what keeps the skin taught and replaces dead skin cells, the more you have, the more wrinkle-free the skin will be.
Collagen levels unfortunately deplete as we age and there is no way to prevent this. However, it is possible to give your skin a helping hand. Avoiding smoking, staying sun safe, and avoiding sugar are the best preventative methods.
You can also boost your collagen through diet and with a helping hand. Radio frequency is one of the best non-invasive ways to increase the skins collagen production. The Silk’n Facetite anti-wrinkle device stops aging in its tracks by tightening collagen fibers in the skin. The skin’s fibroblasts are blasted with RF waves to increase collagen production and invite smoother, tighter skin as it reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

And there we have it! Do you have any ABC’s to add to the list?
